Harvey Woods Field

Coach Harvey Woods, in whose honor our new baseball field was named after. This celebration is a special event as we pay tribute to DWC trustee and benefactor Fred Roedel. Mr. Roedel chose to name the field for his mentor and college baseball coach, Harvey Woods, long-serving athletic director and baseball coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ.

Participants will also have the chance to meet Red Sox greats Rico Petrocelli, Frank Malzone, Jim Lomborg, Johnny Pesky, and Butch Butch Hobson, 11 am – 1 pm.

The Daniel Webster College Eagles baseball team can now play their home games at home, here on campus.

Trustee Fred Roedel made a tremendous gift toward the cost of the field.  Moved by a desire to help the college complete its plan for recreational fields and the current homelessness of the college's baseball team, Mr. Roedel and his wife, Kay, pledged their support to accelerate the construction of a first-class baseball field so that the team could end their nomadic existence. The team had been playing their home games at other Nashua ball fields.

Mr. Roedel, a former chairman of the Board, knows what college baseball can mean.  He played baseball in college and has a keen respect for the value of intercollegiate sport and the character shaping role coaches can have.  In fact, the college has named the field after one of Mr. Roedel's college coaches, Harvey Woods.

The field, completed last year, is ready for the Eagles' home games.
