Pathfinder: Physical and Emotional Abuse

SCOPE: An individual may inflict violence on another individual in the form of physical or emotional violence. Violence is often accompanied by rage and the violent action against people or property is an inevitable part of anger that has gone out of control. (Gottesman, Violence in America) Violent acts against elders, children, and marital partners are on the rise in a society in which violent acts are often regarded as acceptable behavior. The purpose of this pathfinder is to serve as a guideline for student research. It is not intended as a comprehensive listing of all the sources available in the library, but as a selective sampling of the many types of resources available.
