SCOPE: Attention deficit is considered the most commonly diagnosed psychological disorder in school age children. Children exhibit characteristics of inattention, impulsivity, the inability to sit still, bullying, and temper tantrums. Attention deficit is divided into three subtypes: inattentive type, hyperactive and impulsive type, and a combination type characterized by high levels of both inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity. (Nevid, Abnormal Psychology in a Changing World) Both biological and environmental factors play in the causes of this disorder.
