SCOPE: Addiction may be defined as the habitual or compulsive use of a drug accompanied by evidence of physiological dependence. (Nevid, Abnormal Psychology in a Changing World) Compulsive gambling, sexual addiction and internet addiction are compulsive forms of behavior and are included in this pathfinder, although they do not involve a physiological dependence. The purpose of this pathfinder is to serve as a guideline for students in locating resources that will provide an in-depth analysis of this topic.
