Scope: Amy Lowell was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on February 8, 1874. Lowell was a prolific writer or essays, short stories, criticism, and literary biography. She combines a blend of intelligence and emotion in her poetry. Themes of disillusionment are prevalent in her poetry. Some of her more notable works are “The Taxi,” “Madonna of the Evening Flowers, “ and “In Excelsis.”
