Scope: Jean-Michel Basquiat
grew up in the streets of New York City. He was a
self-educated graffiti painter, who in the 1960’s,
became affiliated with Andy Warhol, another famous
artist of the period. He died at the early age of
twenty-seven after having established himself in the art
world by exhibiting several works of art in renowned
galleries in Europe and the United States. (The Prestel
