Scope: Carlos Fuentes is a Latin American writer who gained popularity during the 1960s. The 1985 novel The Old Gringo which was adapted for film, was the first novel written by a Mexican to appear on the New York Times Bestseller List. Fuentes’ themes are Mexican history and individual heritage and past.
