Scope: Robert Lowell was a major 20th century American poet whose works spanned from the 1940’s to the 1960’s. He was the recipient of numerous awards including the Pulitzer Prize (1947). Lowell believed that his art and his life were inseparably intertwined, and he believed in the identity of self and language. (Ryan, Major 20th-Century Writers)
