Pathfinder: Memory

SCOPE: Memory may be defined as the biological device by which an individual acquires, retains, and makes use of skills and knowledge, (Kazdin, Encyclopedia of Psychology) Memory involves recalling certain events and recognizing people and objects. Two types of memory are long-term memory which is permanent and short-term memory which lasts only briefly. Memory may be affected by disorders such as alzheimer’s and dementia. The purpose of this pathfinder is to serve as a guideline for student research. It is not intended as a comprehensive listing of all the materials available in the library on this topic, but as a selective sampling of the many types of resources available.
