Scope: Jan Vermeer’s portfolio only numbers around forty paintings, but his contribution to the art world is still noteworthy. He is known for his small interior scenes of one or two figures engaging in ordinary everyday tasks. His use of yellows and blues created a harmony and balance in the serenity of the scenes he portrayed.
