Scope: James McNeill Whistler was an American painter, artist, and designer. His interest in Japanese art was evident in his introduction of oriental fans and blossoms in his paintings. ( Piper, The Illustrated Dictionary of Art & Artists) Two of his more famous paintings are Chelsea:Nocturne in blue and green and Ten o’Clock Lecture.
The purpose of this pathfinder is to serve as a guideline for student research. It is not intended as a comprehensive listing of all the materials available in the library, but a selective sampling of the many types of materials available.
