Sample Math Placement Exam
Placement based on your score and major.

Aviation Majors

In these majors you would normally be expected to start with MA 122, College Algebra with Applications, however, if you don’t do well on section A of the math placement test you will have to start with MA 098, a pre-college algebra course.

If you score less than 60% correct in section A you can expect to be placed in MA 098.  If you score higher than 60% in section A, but less than 60% in section B you can expect to be placed in MA 122.  If you score higher than 60% in section B, but less than 60% in section C, you can expect to be placed in MA 115, which is a college trigonometry course.  If you score higher than 60% on all sections of this test, you can expect to be placed in MA 152, which is a calculus course.  If you do not do as well as you would like on one or more of these sections you may want to get a book and review the material or take a refresher course this summer.  The books that DWC currently uses in these courses are listed at the end of this document.
