SUCCESS STORIES
Marcia Wescott '09
Aviation Flight Operations major
Aviation Flight Operations is a
challenging major, requiring a demanding academic schedule and hours of
flight time as well. But that hasn’t stopped the 20 year old Marcia Wescott
of Westbrook, Maine from “excelling in it all.”
Marcia is an aspiring flight student on campus who does extremely well in
her academic field by obtaining President’s List status while contributing
in several extracurricular organizations. Including her normal coursework,
she is a Resident Assistant (R.A.), Vice President of the Outdoor Adventure
Klub (O.A.K), a member of the Flight Advisory Board, plays keyboard in a
rock band, and is currently working at library.
A typical day at Daniel Webster College for Marcia can sometimes include
daily classes, homework, work at the library, duty for R.A., meetings for
O.A.K., practicing for the rock band, physics lab, flying, hanging out with
friends, watching 24, and just having a good time. Time management is
something that she handles very well while balancing classes, homework, and
on campus organizations.
Once Marcia graduates from Daniel Webster College and obtains her Certified
Flight Instructor Rating (C.F.I.), she would like to continue on with her
own goals and aspirations. When asked about her future, Marcia says, “I hope
to instruct because I believe teaching is valuable part to advancing
anyone’s knowledge and confidence. Then I would love to fly twin otter float
planes, but realistically something where I can be home almost every night
because family means a lot to me!” To get her “foot in the door”, Marcia
plans on doing an internship either with instructing at the school of with
an airline just to get a feel for what that lifestyle is like.
The success that Marcia has and will achieve at Daniel Webster College will
continue to follow her throughout her aviation career.
