SUCCESS STORIES
Mechanical Engineering
Pamela Watson '10

Working with groups is the main theme of Pam Watson’s days here at Daniel Webster College. Born in Boston, raised in Manchester, she is used to creatively solving problems alongside those around her.

Meeting daily with her peer group, Pam dedicates a great deal of time and effort to each engineering project she is assigned. There are four main sections for each project: design, building, fusion, and presentations (oral and written). Engineering students have full access to specialized labs with instruments that students, including Pam, use to create, detail, and finalize their assignments. These projects are an integral part of the engineering major as they represent actual situations that each member in the group will eventually work through in their careers.

After her hours of classes and school work are finished, Pam is part of the Student Activities Board (SAB) as well as Campus Crusade for Christ. During the time spent with SAB, she plans and organizes trips and activities open to every student on campus. As for Campus Crusade for Christ, Pam attends weekly meetings where discussions are held and also helps participate in events held on campus for the student body.

The abilities to work closely with her classmates and get involved on campus were two things that turned Pam’s eye towards Daniel Webster College. She was impressed by the social atmosphere – the sense of community in and out of the classroom. After choosing to attend DWC she wasn't quite sure what to major in: "Mechanical Engineering is a major that revolves around 'the basics' and is very hands on - it was a perfect fit for me," Pam explained.

Upon graduation from Daniel Webster College, Pam intends on moving back to her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. A hands-on job with familiar faces is what she aspires to. Mechanical Engineering offers its students a wide range of career paths; Pam will use her remaining years here at DWC to gain experience narrow down her path to success.
