Position: Community Director
Department/Division: Housing &
Residential Education/Student Affairs
Reports to: Associate Dean for Student
Development Staff reporting to Community
Director: 8-10 student Resident
Assistants
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher
Education, Counseling or related field and graduate
level experience in supervising student residence
life strongly preferred; exceptional candidates with
a bachelor’s degree and full-time residence life
experience will be considered
- Demonstrated skills with respect to: leadership,
communication, problem solving, administration, and
counseling
- A positive attitude, commitment to student
learning and development, and the ability to work
both independently and as a part of a team
Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as an educator for residential students
and as a facilitator for student involvement in the
college community
- Manage the assigned residential community,
including facilities operations, budget oversight,
and student conduct
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
intentional learning opportunities for students
- Select, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate
student resident assistants
- Engage in direct contact with students in the
residential community
- Maintain accurate records regarding housing
occupancy
- Assist in the housing selection and new student
room assignment processes
- Participate in the on-call duty rotation
- Assist with the summer residential program
Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with campus events such as Admissions
Open Houses/Accepted Students Days, Ski Day,
Midnight Munch, and commencement
- Collaborate with other Student Affairs
departments on projects and initiatives to promote
student learning and development
- Other duties as assigned
