The Department of Academic Affairs is responsible for all academic programs at the College. Dr. Ben O. Latigo is the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer (VPAA/CAO). He assumed this position in January 2012. Dr. Latigo served as Dean and Professor of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of the District of Columbia for 12 years prior to joining the College. Prior to that, he served for six years as Department Chair in the College of Engineering at the University of Toledo and for five years as Associate Professor and Director in the Aeronautical Technology Department at Arizona State University. He also held a tenured position in Mechanical Engineering at Makerere University in Uganda. He received a BS degree with honors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nairobi; a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona; and a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California. Dr. Latigo holds several professional memberships, including the American Society for Engineering Education and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is extensively published in fluid turbulence and aerodynamics.
The Department of Academic Affairs houses the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Aviation Sciences, the School of Business and Management, and the School of Engineering and Computer Sciences, each headed by a Dean. The Dean of Academic Affairs Online, the Registrar, and the Librarian also report to the VPAA/CAO.
