Academic Support Services
The
Math/Science Support Center
offers assistance on a one-to-one basis and in small
groups. Math and science students may attend
pre-arranged practice sections sessions or receive
walk-in tutoring during scheduled times. Support is also
available through computer and video materials. Student
assistance in this Center is coordinated and supervised
by the Director of the Math and Science Support Center.
The Center is staffed by the director and peer tutors.
Academic Support Services arranges individualized
tutorial sessions for students taking course within all
divisions.
The
Writing Center
provides assistance to students at any stage of their
writing development (for all courses). Tutors are
available to help students focus on a topic, review the
research process, revise arguments, and copy-edit final
drafts.

education and become self-directed learners.
Programs and Services
-
Coordinate tutoring
services. The Office coordinates with the
Math/Science and Writing Centers to provide tutoring to
students. You can also contact the Office of Academic
Resources to request a tutor in other fields of study.
Peer tutors work with students on either an individual
basis, or in some situations, in a group setting. The
service is free to all day division students.
Do not hesitate to contact the Office if you are
interested in becoming a tutor! The more tutors we have,
the more of you we can serve.
-
Serve as a liaison
between faculty advisors, the registrar’s office, and
you. The Office can provide you with pertinent
information regarding semester registration and serve as
a “super” advisor to you when your advisor is
unavailable.
-
Work with students who
have learning disabilities. The Office serves as a
campus clearinghouse for students with learning
disabilities.
-
Provide a variety of
and continually updated academic support services.
This includes workshops on study skills and time
management, information on course expectations or degree
requirements, and more.
