(High Efficiency Wing being machined for Wind Tunnel Testing by our CNC Makino)

( Robotic Arm modeled, analyzed and built by freshman students for their Engineering Design I course, fall 2002)

(Across the hall from our dedicated engineering design computer lab, students have access to various shop tools including our CNC Makino milling machine which has a 3 HP inverter controlled spindle motor, a double knee for added stability and accuracy, and a 28x14x14 machining envelope. Used in conjunction with Surfcam CAD/CAM software, it has full 3-axis surfacing capability and can machine the complex surfaces needed to create various airfoils, gears, custom fixtures, etc.)

(2002 FIRST robot undergoing testing. This robot placed 3rd out of 63 at the New Haven regional and received the Defensive Play of the Day award at the informal competition Battle Cry sponsored by WPI.)

(While taking Engineering Design I, these students built a robot that could pick up and dunk a basketball.)

(1999 FIRST robot placed 18th out of 207 during the qualifying rounds at the nationals, and teamed with WPI won the informal River Rage event held in Manchester, NH.)
