Assistant Chief Instructor

 

Daniel Webster College is now accepting resumes for possible future opening of an Assistant Chief Instructor.

 

This position is responsible in assisting the Chief Instructor in maintaining the high level of safety & quality in flight training at Daniel Webster College. The person will interact with flight instructors and students on a daily basis in a supervisory role

 

The position may require the individual to directly oversee, as assigned by the Chief Instructor, some aspects of the Daniel Webster College flight curriculum or operation, including but not limited the following:

  • Private Pilot Curriculum
  • Instructor Upgrade Academic Training
  • Student/Instructor Records
  • Flight Instructor Standardization
  • Student Standardization & Flight Procedure Development
  • Summer/Take-Flight Programs
  • Aircraft Standardization & Documentation
The person will report directly to Chief Instructor. The Assistant Chief Instructor may also be required to serve in the development of flight curriculum, aircraft acquisition and operation specifications/procedures for the DWC Flight Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Available for consultation on the training of students within the DWC aviation curriculum
  • May require electronic communications with operations outside of normally assigned hours
  • Will be required to conduct stage checks, end-of-course tests, flight instructor proficiency checks, evaluation flights and standardization flights in accordance with appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations, curriculum & the DWC Flight Operations Manual (FOM)
  • Assist in the maintaining and development of training techniques, procedures and standards.
  • Assist in the development and revision of aircraft documentation & procedures
  • Assist in the development and revision of the DWC FOM.
  • Work with students that need additional care, as assigned by the Chief Instructor and/or flight scheduling
  • Assist in development of procedures to assure that each pilot maintains appropriate currency as required by Federal Aviation Regulations and the DWC FOM.
  • Interact with flight crews (Students & Flight Instructors) to provide the highest level of service.
  • May be required to conduct parent/instructor conferences
  • Participate in planning and programs to further enhance the safety & effective operation of the DWC Flight Center
  • Develop, present & revise materials, as necessary, for the effective communication of operational procedures at the DWC Flight Center

REQUIRED:

  • 4 – Year College Degree or Equivalent
  • At least a commercial pilot certificate with airplane single and multi-engine land ratings
  • Holds a valid flight instructor certificate with airplane single-engine, instrument & airplane multi-engine ratings
  • Holds at least valid second class FAA medical certificate, valid for second-class privileges.
  • Demonstrated exceptional instructional record
  • Pass a knowledge test, issued by DWC on the following subjects
    • Teaching Methods
    • Aeronautical Information Manual
    • Federal Aviation Regulations (Part 61, 91 & 141)
    • Practical Test Standards for Various Levels of Pilot Certification
  • Flight Experience
    • Minimum 1,000 hours PIC
    • 750 Hours Flight Training experience as an instructor
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a ground school instructor at a Part 141 school or equivalent relevant experience
  • Meet all applicable parts of 14 CFR §141.36
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word/Access
  • Demonstrated abilities for the effective & efficient coordination of resources (Human & Mechanical)
  • Pass a background check conducted by DWC, including possible:
    • Driving Record
    • FAA Record
    • Pre-employment Drug Screening

PREFERENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Part 121, 135 or Part 91 Subpart K Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Prior experience in turbine powered airplanes and/or glass cockpit
  • Glider certificates & ratings
  • Airframe & Powerplant certificate
  • Tail wheel/Aerobatic experience
  • Prior instructional experience at another College/University or Major Flight Academy
  • Prior flight experience outside of the USA, or at least outside of the Northeast USA.
