School of Arts and Sciences

Assistant/Associate Professor of English/Communications to teach professional writing, technical writing, public speaking, and first-year composition. Expertise in WAC desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for restructuring the current professional communications curriculum in an institution that focuses on professional preparation and experiential learning. This is a new position. PhD preferred.

Assistant Professor of English/Humanities to teach courses in the areas of first-year composition, first-year seminar, literature, and global studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the citizenship outcomes of the new General Education program. Experience in Writing Across the Curriculum a plus. PhD required at time of appointment.

Assistant/Associate Professor, Mathematics to teach undergraduate courses in mathematics. Ability and interest in teaching science or engineering courses is a plus. The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in Mathematics or closely allied field; The College offers several different math tracks designed to meet the needs of the various majors at the College. Math courses range from remedial algebra to differential equations and linear algebra with introduction to numerical methods. Teaching responsibilities for this position will primarily focus on the upper-level math courses. However, the person who fills this position will also be asked to provide leadership in refining the objectives of the various math tracks and developing and implementing effective outcome measurement tools.

Assistant Professor of Business (Accounting)
The DWC College of Business, Management, and Professional Studies seeks applications for a full-time faculty member to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Accounting as well as principle courses in Economics and Business Management.

The position will be available for Fall 2008.

Required qualifications:
Applicants must possess an MBA; an earned doctorate is preferred. ABD candidates will be considered. Rank is commensurate with experience.

The Daniel Webster College Engineering, Math and Science (EMS) Division seeks applications for a full-time faculty member to teach undergraduate courses in areas of mechanical engineering such as system modeling, robotics (including vision), automation, thermal systems design, and manufacturing engineering.

The successful candidate will possess a BS as well as an earned doctorate or ABD in Mechanical Engineering or closely allied field; English language communication skills needed to interact effectively with students and colleagues; demonstrated excellence in teaching and leadership (Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor will demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and leadership.); legal eligibility to work in the United States.

Desired qualifications are: strong experimental and lab development experience; broad understanding of the field of mechanical engineering; relevant industrial experience; the ability to teach introductory-level undergraduate courses in physics and/or upper-level engineering math courses, as well as an interest in teaching such courses is a plus.

Two Assistant Professors of Computer Science
The Computer Science Division seeks two faculty members who can contribute vision, energy and leadership, eager to play a creative role in furthering curriculum development at a college where one person can truly make a difference. Responsibilities include teaching and managing academic content of the computer science courses; gaming, simulation and robotics courses; and information systems courses in the traditional day and evening programs. Director MBA for Aviation Professionals and Assistant/Associate Professor in Aviation Management - New position available for appointment Fall, 2008.

The Aviation Division of Daniel Webster College seeks applications for a full-time faculty member to direct and grow its online MBA for Aviation Professionals and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in aviation management.

The Aviation Division operates the largest comprehensive aviation programs in the Northeast, offering AABI-accredited undergraduate programs in Aviation Management, Aviation Flight Operations and Air Traffic Management and, in partnership with the Business and Management Division, the MBA for Aviation Professionals. We seek faculty who are committed to teaching and mentoring undergraduates and who can contribute energy and innovation in curriculum and program development at a college where one person can truly make a difference. The Aviation Division of Daniel Webster College seeks applications for permanent faculty appointment as Instructor or Assistant/Associate Professor with principal assignment in Aviation Flight Operations.

The Aviation Division offers AABI-accredited undergraduate programs in Aviation Flight Operations, Aviation Management, and Air Traffic Management and, in partnership with the Business and Management Division, the MBA for Aviation Professionals. Candidates for appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor must demonstrate a significant level of academic study and/or achievement in professional flight operations, and must have an earned doctorate or master’s degree in a related field and significant professional experience appropriate to the appointment. Candidates for appointment at the rank of Instructor must have a minimum of three years of flight experience in professional flight operations, and must have an earned master’s or bachelor’s degree in a discipline appropriate to the appointment. In addition, candidates must hold pilot/instructor credentials appropriate to the appointment including at minimum: Commercial Pilot ASMEL (ATP preferred) AND current Advanced & Instrument Ground Instructor (Flight Instructor ASME & IA preferred). Determination of rank is commensurate with education and experience and made at the time of appointment. Qualification for promotion is required within six years of appointment.
