What is Performance-Based

and Need-Based Financial Assistance?

Financial Assistance at Daniel Webster College is assistance awarded to: a) students to recognize academic achievement and b) students who will need additional funding to achieve their goal of attaining a DWC education.

Financial Assistance is awarded in two forms:

Performance-Based Scholarships

Eligibility for this type of assistance is determined by the students academic accomplishments.  Financial need is not a factor when awarding performance-based financial assistance.

As an incoming student you are automatically considered for Performance Scholarships upon acceptance to Daniel Webster College.  These scholarships are awarded depending on your GPA, your SAT scores and whether or not you live on campus. You must be enrolled as a full-time day student and maintain a CGPA of 2.5 or better to renew these scholarships.

Need-Based Assistance

Eligibility for this type of assistance is determined by calculating the student's demonstrated financial need.  Financial need is determined by subtracting your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from educational costs at Daniel Webster College.  Your EFC is derived from the information you report on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which utilizes an approved federal methodology for determining family contribution.  Need-based financial assistance is awarded to help fill the gap between the cost of attendance and your EFC.

What does this mean for you?  In all likelihood, you will receive some type of financial assistance. Daniel Webster College will offer you a financial assistance package, which may include awards from either our performance-based or need-based programs, or a possible combination of awards from both categories.  In 2007-2008, more than 90% of the students enrolled at DWC received some type of financial assistance from either Daniel Webster College and/or the federal financial assistance programs.
