The
Aviation/Air Traffic Management program
leads to a bachelor of science degree and
combines general academic preparation,
professional education in air traffic
control (ATC), and management education. The
program is one of thirteen recognized by the
FAA as part of their Collegiate Training
Initiative (CTI). The purpose of CTI is to
include collegiate aviation programs as the
primary means of meeting the future needs of
the national air space system for air
traffic control. For employment with the FAA
as an air traffic controller, individuals
must obtain an initial appointment prior to
their 31st birthday.
Graduates may qualify for appointment as Air
Traffic Control Specialists with the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA), and possess
the broad education, management, and
communication skills to serve effectively in
supervisory or management positions with the
Air Traffic Division of the FAA, supervisory
or management positions in a variety of
aviation business settings, or for continued
education in an appropriate masters degree
program.
