About Business Management at DWC

The Bachelor of Science in Business Management program recognizes that the increasingly integrated and team-based nature of work today requires knowledge of all the functions of an entire enterprise, as well as leadership and related entrepreneurial skills. The program provides the skills necessary for business management, general management, and marketing management. You will be prepared for career entry in a variety of areas, for career growth in broad managerial and leadership positions, as well as success in individual professional roles.

The organizational scientist Henry Mintzberg has argued that, "No job is more vital to our society than that of the manager. The manager determines whether our institutions will serve us well or whether they will squander our resources." (Harvard Business Review, 1990) With this claim in mind, this program of study includes a six-course Management Foundation sequence which provides the basis for effective management in whatever field is pursued.

  • You’ll be prepared for a successful career as a leader and manager in businesses and non-profit organizations of the future.

  • You’ll attain a solid foundation in the three essential functions of a business (finance, marketing, and operations), and learn to execute the four functions of a manager (planning, organizing, leading and controlling).
