Harry J. Sheffield Award
Awarded to a Freshman Flight Student

This award is given annually to a freshman flight student who has demonstrated high academic achievement, has a determined interest in a career in the field of aviation, and who exhibits high standards of safety, professionalism and excellence in his/her flight training. The awardees name will be engraved on a plaque that is permanently displayed in the Tamposi Aviation Center.

To nominate a student for the Sheffield Award the following should be submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs:

  • The Award Nomination Fact Sheet that describes how the nominee meets the award criteria specified and why he/she should be recognized for it.
  • Additional letters of support may be submitted.

The submission deadline is Monday, February 18, 2008 by 5:00 pm.

Nomination information may be submitted individually or as part of a package by more than one person. Multiple nomination forms for one person are accepted and will be considered as a group. The Academic Awards Committee will select up to three nominees for this award. If a student is to be nominated for more than one award, an Award Nomination Fact Sheet must be submitted separately for each award. The recipient of the Sheffield Award will be selected by the faculty in the division of Aviation during the second week of March. Families of nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony. Notification of this student scholarship will be made in the spring. Recognition of this award will take place at the Fall Opening Convocation on September 18, 2008.
