Pearl C. Rideout Scholarship
Awarded to an upper level computer science, business and
management, or social science major for academic
achievement and intellectual curiosity.
Given to help students support the pursuit of their education, Pearl Rideout was an engaging teacher throughout her entire life. For many years she taught in the public school classrooms of Nashua and Hollis and also taught French and
Humanities at Daniel Webster College in the early 1970s. Living well into her ninth decade, Ms. Rideout challenged herself, her friends, all guests who visited and our students to stay intellectually attuned.
This award is given annually to an upper level student studying Computer Science, Business and Management, or Social Science, who demonstrates high academic achievement and ongoing intellectual curiosity. The award is to be applied toward tuition for the next year (half each semester). The student must have a minimum of a 3.00 GPA or better and demonstrate a level of intellectual curiosity that extends beyond their major. Letters of support from faculty and advisors or others who can express recognition of capabilities and performance should be submitted for committee review.
To nominate a student for the Rideout Scholarship the following should be submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs:
- The Award Nomination Fact Sheet that describes how the nominee meets the award criteria specified and why he/she should be recognized for it.
- Additional letters of support may be submitted.
- Submit a schedule of availability for interviews.
The submission deadline is Monday, February
18, 2008 by 5:00 pm.
Nomination information may be submitted individually or as part of a package by more than one person. Multiple nomination forms for one person are accepted and will be considered as a group. The Academic Awards Committee will select up to three nominees for this award. If a student is to be nominated for more than one award, an Award Nomination Fact Sheet must be submitted separately for each award. The recipient of the Rideout Scholarship will be selected by the faculty in the division of Humanities and Social Science during the second week of March.
