Sidney W. Clarkson, Jr. Scholarship
Awarded to a Rising Senior Flight Student With a 3.0 GPA
or better and with Financial Need.
The Sidney W. Clarkson, Jr. award was first established by the Clarkson family in 1979. The College has maintained this award since that time.
This award is given annually to a junior entering his/her senior year in Flight Operations who demonstrates quality academic performance by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better by the end of the junior year. While financial need is a significant consideration, the Awards Committee and the Clarkson family want to assist students who strive to achieve their academic goals. The award is to be applied to tuition for the next year.
To nominate a student for the Clarkson Scholarship the following should be submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs:
- The Award Nomination Fact Sheet that describes how the nominee meets the award criteria specified and why he/she should be recognized for it.
- Additional letters of support may be submitted.
The submission deadline is Monday, February
18, 2008 by 5:00 pm.
Nomination information
may be submitted individually or as part of a package by more than one person.
Multiple nomination forms for one person are accepted and will be considered as
a group. The Academic Awards Committee will select up to three nominees for this
award. If a student is to be nominated for more than one award, an Award
Nomination Fact Sheet must be submitted separately for each award. The recipient
of the Clarkson Scholarship will be selected by the faculty from the Aviation
Division during the second week of March. Families of nominees will be invited
to attend the awards ceremony. Notification of this student scholarship will be
made in the spring. Recognition of this award will take place at the Fall Opening Convocation on
September 18, 2008.
Further information regarding scholarships and awards is available in the Office for Academic Affairs and the Office of Development. Award Nomination Fact Sheets are also available in those two locations. Information may be found on the
DWC Scholarship and Awards pages as well.
