Nashua, N.H. - The Eagle baseball team's true jack-of-all-trades has earned his way to the First Team of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Casey Allan of South Berwick, Maine has been named to the GNAC Baseball All Conference First Team as selected by the conference coaches.

Allan, a graduate student, was selected to the First Team as, appropriately, a utility player. Allan appeared at seven different positions this past season, playing all spots in the infield including the pitcher’s mound as well as taking turns in right field and as designated hitter.

Allan’s selection marks the third GNAC First Team honoree for the Eagle program as he joins Chris Shanahan (2006) and Steve Cox (2001). He is also the third Eagle to receive accolades at utility, joining Sean Lennon (2005) and Brandon Fitzpatrick (2004).

Allan appeared and started in 29 of 30 games, finishing with a .300 batting average (27-90), which included a team best eight doubles, while his 22 runs batted in tied him for the team lead. He added a perfect six-for-six in stolen base opportunities, and fielded .923.

On the mound, Allan was the Eagle’s most consistent starter, posting a 2-6 record over eight starts, including five complete games. He posted a 5.08 earned run average over a team high 46 2/3 innings, striking out 30 against 22 walks.

Allan’s best offensive performances included a combined 8-for-12 production with three doubles, four runs scored and six RBI in a two game series with the University of Maine-Presque Isle on March 29th and 30th. He added a 3-for-5 outing with three runs and two RBI in a 12-5 victory over Emerson April 11th, and a 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored and four RBI in a 19-1 victory over Southern Vermont April 21st.

In his final collegiate game, Allan went 2-for-3, scoring three times and knocking in three runs in a 21-7 victory over Newbury April 26th.

On the mound, Allan tossed a complete game victory (12-5) over Emerson on April 11th. He posted a masterful six-inning three-hitter allowing one earned run in 2-1 loss to Curry March 15th, and was the winning pitcher against Newbury, allowing one earned run over five innings, striking out six and walking just one.

The Eagles posted a 7-23 overall mark this past season including a 2-12 mark in the GNAC.
