Eagles
Bats Come Alive, Down Owls 18-7

(Nashua) – Casey Allan (South Berwick, Maine) went 4-for-5, knocked in two runs and scored three times, and Nick Michaud (Windsor Locks, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI to lead Daniel Webster past Maine-Presque Isle, 18-7 Thursday at blustery Harvey Woods Field.

The victory was the first of the season for an Eagles (1-9) squad that banged out a season high 20 hits.

Jared Galm (Kingston, N.Y.) added a 3-for-5 outing with two RBI and scored four times from the leadoff spot, while Michael Adams (Frankfort, Maine) and Joe Tamulonis (Woodstock, N.H.) added two hits each.

Michaud picked up the win (1-1), allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits over six innings, striking out three and walking three. Tyson Weeks (0-1) took the loss.

Tyler Delaney (Truro, N.S.) led the Owls (1-3) with two hits and two RBI, while Brian Morrison (New Glasgow, N.S.) added two hits and knocked in a run, and Corey Harding (Plymouth, Maine) added two hits.

After the Owls picked up two runs off an RBI single from Brandon Elie (Auburn, Maine) and scored another off a passed ball, the Eagles erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the frame buoyed by two errors along with a two run double from Shaun Hanson (Durham, N.H.) and a two run single from Culver.

A Morrison RBI single made it 8-3 in the top of the third, but Michaud connected in the bottom of the frame with a two-run shot, his first of the season, and a 10-3 advantage.

The Eagles pulled away for good putting up a four spot in the fourth including a Galm single that scored Tamulonis, and a Michaud two-out, two-run single that scored Galm and Culver.

The two teams meet again on the Woods diamond Friday at 3:00 p.m.
