Michaud Paces Eagles Past Pilgrims, 8-4
(Nashua) – Nick Michaud (Windsor Locks, Conn.) put it all together on
offense and defense, tossing a complete game six hitter allowing two earned
runs, and went 3-for-5 at the plate with a two-run homer and a double
guiding host Daniel Webster past New England College, 8-4 Tuesday at Harvey
Woods Field.
Michaud (2-1) struck out two and walked five, allowed just one extra base
hit, and also scored twice as the Eagles (3-12) halted a three game losing
streak.
Jared Galm (Kingston, N.Y.) added three hits, knocked in one and scored,
while Casey Allan (S. Berwick, Maine) and Michael Adams (Frankfort, Maine)
added two RBI each for the hosts.
Donovan Funk (Farmington, N.H.) and Sean Benoit (Pelham, N.H.) added a hit
and RBI each for the Pilgrims (3-9). Andy Russell (Epping, N.H.) took the
loss (0-1).
The Eagles scored in each of the first five innings, building a 7-2 lead.
Michaud belted his third round tripper of the season in the first, and Galm
singled home Shaun Hanson (Durham, N.H.) in the second for a 3-0 lead.
NEC answered with two unearned runs in the top of the third, but
back-to-back RBI singles from Hanson and Adams in the bottom of the frame
put the Eagles up 5-2.
An Allan ground out scored Galm in the fourth, and Adams doubled in Hanson
in the sixth for a 7-2 lead.
Funk singled home Joe Leo (Stoneham, Mass.) in the sixth for a 7-3 game, but
the Eagles iced it in the eighth as Joe Tamulonis (Woodstock, N.H.) launched
a two out triple and Allan followed with a double for an 8-3 lead.
A Benoit RBI single in the ninth closed out the scoring.
The Eagles are off until Friday when they travel to Suffolk for a 2:00 p.m.
doubleheader, while the Pilgrims are off until April 11th when they host
Wentworth in a CCC doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
