Nashua, N.H. - Casey Allan (South Berwick, Maine) went 3-for-4 with four RBI and Chris Gleason (South Salem, N.Y.) went 4-for-4 with two RBI to lead Daniel Webster past Southern Vermont, 19-1 in game two of a doubleheader Saturday, giving the Eagles a split in a non-conference baseball matchup.

Nick Culver (Meriden, Conn.) added three hits and knocked in two, and Michael Adams (Frankfort, Maine) added two hits and two RBI as the Eagles (5-22) bounced back from a 6-3 game one loss. The nightcap was called after five innings due to darkness.

Kyle Hoseit (Saco, Maine) took the loss, while knocking in the Mountaineers (1-8) sole run in the top of the first.

In the opener, Jay Sutton (Alfred, Maine) went 2-for-4 knocking in two runs and Hoseit added two hits and one RBI as the Mountaineers posted the 6-3 victory. SVC took control with five runs on two hits and three walks in the second including a two-run single from Sutton.

Kevin Murphy (New Paltz, N.Y.) and Dan Haynes (Downsville, N.Y.) knocked in consecutive runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 6-3, but the Eagles would pull no closer.

Steve Nappi (Canton, Conn.) earned the victory, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking three, while Matt Collette (Oceanside, N.Y.) took the loss (0-1).

The Eagles close out the regular season Sunday as they host Rivier in a GNAC doubleheader beginning at Noon. Southern Vermont travels to Saint Joseph’s (Vt.) Sunday at Noon.
