Eagles Triple Up Newbury In Season Finale, 21-7

Nashua, N.H. - Shaun Hanson may not have had many hits in Daniel Webster’s baseball season finale against Newbury, but he made the most of his opportunities.

Hanson (Durham, N.H.) managed to knock in a game high five runs despite recording only one hit, knocking in two on sacrifice flies in the second and fourth, and added an RBI triple in the seventh as the Eagles closed their 2007 season with a resounding 21-7 victory at Harvey Woods Field.

Nick Culver (Meriden, Conn.) added a 4-for-5 afternoon with one RBI, Michael Adams (Frankfort, Maine) went 4-for-6 knocking in two, and Kevin Murphy (New Paltz, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 knocking in four to pace a 21-hit attack as the Eagles finished 7-23 overall.

Casey Allan (South Berwick, Maine) chipped in with two hits and three RBI, while Chris Gleason (South Salem, N.Y.) and Caleb Spotts (Trevorton, Penn.) added two hits each.

Allan (2-6) earned the win, allowing one earned run on six hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one including striking out the side in the first inning.

Brian Fish (East Brookfield, Mass.) took the loss for the first-year Nighthawks (0-8).

David Carroll (North Providence, R.I.) led Newbury with a 3-for-5 outing, scoring twice, while Wayne Borden (Methuen, Mass.) and Chris Cooper (Marlborough, Mass.) added two hits and knocked in a run apiece.

After plating two runs in the first, the Eagles scored seven times on eight hits including an RBI double from Allan and run scoring single from Adams.

The Eagles added five on four hits in the fourth keyed by back-to-back RBI singles from Culver and Allan.

A Fish RBI single put the Nighthawks on the board in the fifth and Newbury tacked on four in the fifth keyed by a Borden RBI double.

A two run-single from Murphy put the Eagles up 16-5 in the bottom of the sixth.

The Eagles tacked on five more in the seventh, while Newbury plated single runs in the seventh and ninth.
