Harvard Tilt Highlights Eagle
Men's Basketball 2008-09 Schedule
Nashua -- For the second straight season, the
Daniel Webster College men’s basketball program will be looking to clip some
ivy.
The Eagles will face their second Ivy League opponent in as many seasons on
December 28th when they visit Harvard University, highlighting the 2008-09
season schedule which was announced today by Head Coach Dave Faucher.
“As we continue to build a winning tradition here at Daniel Webster College,
I am proud and excited to accept the challenge of another NCAA Division I
opponent as part of what should be a challenging upcoming schedule,” said
Faucher. “The entire program is excited at the
opportunity to face such a tradition-rich program as Harvard University.
We’re equally excited at the prospect of competing for a new conference
championship.”
The Eagles meeting with the Crimson comes on the heels of last season’s
first foray into Division I territory. Daniel Webster traveled to Dartmouth
College last December and also played at the Citadel in a preseason
exhibition game.
The Eagles will open up their 25-game regular season schedule at Vaughn
College in Flushing, N.Y. November 16th and open their 10-game home slate
Wednesday, November 19th against Johnson State College at 7:00 p.m.
The Eagles head to Keene State College for the KSC Tip Off November 21st and
22nd, facing Hampshire College in the first round and either Keene State or
The University of Maine-Machias in the consolation or championship game the
following day. The Eagles host Emerson College December 4th, Nichols College
December 6th and close the semester with their meeting with the Crimson.
The squad opens 2009 play at the Wesleyan College Cardinal Classic on
January 2nd and 3rd, facing Anna Maria College in the opening round at 1:00
p.m. and either host Wesleyan or Wheelock College in the consolation or
championship the following afternoon.
The remainder of the home schedule includes meetings with New England
Collegiate Conference (NECC) members Becker College, Newbury College,
Mitchell College, Southern Vermont College, Elms College, Wheelock College,
and Lesley University.
Remaining road tilts include visits to Eastern Nazarene College, Unity
College (Maine), Southern Vermont, Becker, Elms, Wheelock, Lesley and
Newbury.
The six-team inaugural NECC Championship Tournament begins February 24th
with quarterfinal action, followed by semifinal games February 27th and the
championship game February 28th.
