Kloman-Ferguson Appointed Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
(Nashua) - The Daniel Webster men’s basketball program has named Brian
Kloman-Ferguson as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the
Eagles’ program. Kloman-Ferguson’s appointment was announced by Eagle
Head Coach Jeremy Currier.
“We are extremely pleased to bring Brian aboard our coaching staff,”
noted Currier. “He brings a wealth of experience to all aspects of our
program including an outstanding recruiting skill set. I am also looking
forward to his contributions on the floor and his direct involvement
with all other aspects of our program.”
A native of Asheville, N.C., Kloman-Ferguson joins the Eagles after
spending last season at Pfeiffer University (NCAA II) in North Carolina
where he served as recruiting coordinator under Head Coach Dave Davis.
The Falcons posted a 17-11 overall record including an 11-9 mark in the
Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference, qualifying for the CVAC
championship tournament.
“I am equally excited and happy about the challenges that come with
building a top-rate program at Daniel Webster” noted Kloman-Ferguson.
“Aside from my friendship with Coach Currier, I am convinced he is one
of the youngest and hardest working coaches in the industry. I look
forward to working with he and Assistant Coach Mark Dunham to bring
Eagle basketball to prominence and to contend for a conference
championship.”
Prior to Pfeiffer, Kloman-Ferguson spent the previous year as assistant
coach at perennial NAIA powerhouse Georgetown (Ky.) under legendary Head
Coach Happy Osborne where the Tigers were ranked as high as second in
the country and advanced to the national championship round of 16.
Kloman-Ferguson spent the previous seven seasons at the University of
Tennessee-Knoxville, where he was part of a coaching staff that led the
Volunteers to four straight NCAA tournaments (1998-2001) including a
Sweet 16 appearance in 2000, two NIT tournaments (2002-03), two
Southeastern Conference Divisional titles, and one SEC Tournament title.
Kloman-Ferguson was credited with helping in the recruitment and
development of the program’s talented backcourt players, including
all-SEC performers Tony Harris, C.J. Watson, and Chris Lofton.
Kloman-Ferguson was a football standout at Reynolds High in Asheville
and later went on to play football at East Tennessee State University
before transferring to the University of Tennessee where he received a
degree in sport management.
Basketball coaching runs deep in the family for Kloman-Ferguson. His
father, Chris Ferguson, currently serves as Associate Head Coach at East
Carolina University.
