Harvey Woods Fall Classic Set For Saturday
The Red Sox may be out of contention. The Pride and the
Fisher Cats have put away stored their equipment for the winter. But there
is still competitive baseball to be played in New Hampshire, courtesy of
Daniel Webster College (DWC).
The inaugural Harvey Woods Fall Baseball Classic, sponsored by
homes4saleinNH.net, takes place this coming weekend, September 23rd at
Harvey Woods Field on the DWC campus.
The Eagles program, under the direction of Head Coach Jim Cardello, will
host Rivier College and Emerson College. Game
one features local rivals Daniel Webster and Rivier at 9:00 a.m., followed
by Emerson vs. the loser of game one at 11:30 a.m.
The tournament continues with games at 2:00 p.m. as Emerson plays the winner
of Game one, with a championship slated for 4:30 p.m.
The tournament includes a team award, as well as individual awards for
pitching, offense and defense.
“Hosting a tournament here in the fall gives us a great opportunity to
really see our new players in game action against an opposing school,” noted
Cardello, who will start Casey Woods against Rivier in the opener. “By
playing multiple games against multiple opponents it will help us se who
works best with whom at various positions as well as give us an opportunity
to showcase Harvey Woods Field to the community."
Homes4saleinNH.net is owned by Cardello and is considered a premiere website
for those interested in buying or selling real estate in New Hampshire.
Harvey Woods Field was named by DWC trustee and field benefactor Fred Roedel.
Mr. Roedel chose to name the field for his mentor and college baseball
coach, Harvey Woods, long-serving athletic director and baseball coach at
Fairleigh Dickinson University.
