Hanson Earns N.H. Coaches' All Star, Rookie Accolades

(Nashua, N.H.) – The awards are not quite complete for Daniel Webster men’s basketball rookie standout Chris Hanson.

Fresh off earning Great Northeast Rookie of the Year honors last month, Hanson was recently honored as Rookie of the Year and was named to the Second Team of the New Hampshire Division III Coaches Association All State squad.

“This is another outstanding honor for Chris and well deserved,” noted Eagles Head Coach Jeremy Currier. “The New Hampshire All State squad features some outstanding Division III talent so for Chris to mentioned among these student-athletes is a great achievement.”

Hanson capped an outstanding opening collegiate year, earning the first major conference award for the Eagle program since 2004 and finished as the top freshman scorer in the conference, averaging a team best 13.4 points per game. Hanson was the top three-point sniper in the league and added he added 4.6 rebounds, shot 41-percent overall from the field and was 68-percent from the free throw line.

Hanson registered double figures in scoring 18 times and hit for over 20 points five times.

Along the way, he earned two GNAC “Rookie of the Week” awards.

Under the direction of Currier, the Eagles put together a 7-19 overall record including a 5-13 mark in conference play. The Eagles qualified for the post season championship tournament for the second straight year, bowing to top seeded Emerson in the quarterfinals.

Daniel Webster concludes a 12-year affiliation with the GNAC at the end of the academic year. A founding member of the league, the Eagles will become another founding member, this time with the newly incorporated New England Collegiate Conference.
