Guguai Earns Eagles' Second GNAC Rookie Honor of the Season
(Nashua, N.H.) – For the second time in the early 2007-08 men's basketball
season, a member of the Daniel Webster program has earned conference Rookie
of The Week accolades. Freshman guard Arjok Guguai of Manchester, N.H. has
been named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week as announced by the GNAC conference office.
Guguai helped guide the Eagles to a 2-0 week, averaging 12.0 points, 3.5
rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
He notched a team best 17 points, with a perfect 6-of-6 performance from the
field including two important three pointers, went 3-for-4 at the free throw
line, pulled down seven rebounds and added a block in the Eagles' 74-68
victory over Johnson & Wales. The win halted a 13 game losing streak to the
Wildcats dating back to December 12, 2000.
Earlier in the week, Guguai registered seven points, six boards, and steals
in an important 80-75 non conference home victory over Anna Maria.
Guguai joins teammate Chris Hanson of Salem, Mass. who earned the honor on
November 22nd.
The Eagles, 3-2 overall and 1-0 in GNAC play under the direction of first year Head Coach Jeremy
Currier, return to action Saturday, December 8 when they travel to St.
Joseph's (Maine) for a first ever meeting with the Monks. The GNAC contest
tips off at 3:00 p.m.
