Eagles' Chris Hanson Earns GNAC Rookie of the Week Honors
(Nashua, N.H.) –
Freshman shooting guard Chris Hanson of Salem, Mass. has earned his second
Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s basketball Rookie of the Week of
the Award. The accolade was announced by the GNAC conference office.
Hanson, who also earned the award this past November 20th, averaged 16.0
points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games last week. He
notched 11 points and three rebounds at Norwich on January 21st, and
followed with 21 points - his second highest output of the season - knocking
down seven three pointers, tying his season high at Johnson & Wales on
January 26th. He added 7 rebounds, three assists and three steals in the
contest.
Hanson has appeared in 14 of 15 games this season and stands second in team
scoring with 12.9 points per game. He is adding 4.9 rebounds, and is the
squad’s top three-point shooter, hitting for 42.5% from beyond the arc
(48-113).
Hanson is the fourth different – and fifth overall - DWC newcomer to earn
the GNAC Rookie of the Week honor this season, joining Brian Inge (December
18), Tim Jackson (December 11), Arjok Guguai (December 4).
The Eagles, 3-12 overall under the direction of first year Head Coach Jeremy
Currier, return to action Thursday, January 31st when they host Lasell in
GNAC action at 7:00 p.m. DWC is one of the youngest teams in the region,
sporting 15 newcomers and nine true freshmen.
