Rivier Pushes Past Eagles, 90-76
Nashua,
N.H. - Junior guard Lance Bisson led five players in double figures knocking
down a game high 29 points including four three pointers and senior forward
Jeff Carpenter added a double double with 17 points and 14 rebounds as
Rivier pushed past host Daniel Webster, 90-76 in a GNAC men’s basketball
matchup Tuesday night.
It was the second straight win for the Raiders (7-5, 4-1 GNAC), while the
Eagles (3-8, 1-5 GNAC) dropped their sixth straight.
A.J. Hemingway led five Eagles in double digit scoring with 19 points and
eight boards, while Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) knocked down 15 including
four treys. Steve Savage (Salem, N.H.) and Brian Inge added 12 points each,
while Chris Voukides (Salem, N.H.) chipped in with 10.
Danny Ford added 16 for the winners, while Felipe Lima added 11 and John
McAllen notched 10 including three from outside the arc.
Rivier never trailed in the contest and was hot from the floor throughout
the night. The Raiders finished shooting 51% from the field - which included
10 total three pointers - while the Eagles finished at just over 39% from
the floor.
Paced by 15 from Bisson in the first half, the Raiders took an eight point
lead the break and led by 10 (49-39) two minutes into the second after a
Bisson layup.
But DWC slowly climbed back. Trailing 64-57 after Carpenter jumper, Inge
followed with a jumper and three pointer, and a Hemingway added a layup to
tie it at 64 with 11:02 left.
But McAllen answered with a huge three 25 second later and Carpenter
followed with a jumper to regain a five point edge and DWC never pulled
closer than two the rest of the way.
The Eagles look to get back into the win column Saturday when they host
Emerson at 3:00 p.m. Rivier hosts Norwich Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
