Emerson's Hot Shooting Helps Top Eagles
Nashua,
N.H. - The Emerson duo of Will Dawkins (Springfield, Mass.) and Ben Chase
(Newburyport, Mass.) combined for 59 points and Jeremy Shannon (Lowell,
Mass.) added 17 as the Lions topped host Daniel Webster, 90-79 in GNAC men’s
basketball Saturday.
Dawkins knocked down 30 points, while Chase added 29 and seven rebounds as
the Lions (12-1, 5-1 GNAC) won their third straight.
Brian Inge (Fort Washington, Md.) led the Eagles (3-9, 1-6 GNAC) with 27
points including four three pointers, while Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.)
added 12 points, all coming on four three pointers.
Emerson came out firing, shooting an unconscious 71% from the field (17-24)
in the first half, building a 51-29 lead at the break but the lead was too
much despite the Eagles shooting 65% in the second half.
Trailing 56-31 with 16:41 left, the Eagles followed with a 14-4 run keyed by
two jumpers and a trey from Inge, two jumpers from Tim Jackson and a layup
from Joel Prince (Woodbridge, Va.) to make it a 60-45 game with 11:50 to go.
The lead remained at 15 over the next two minutes, but a key layup and three
pointer from Shannon helped rebuild the lead to 19.
The Eagles return to action Monday when they travel to Norwich for a 7:00
p.m. GNAC matchup. Emerson travels to Suffolk Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. GNAC
matchup.
