Eagles Fall At Nichols, 101-75

DUDLEY, Mass.- Five players scored in double figures as the Nichols men’s basketball team (7-15) posted a 101-75 victory against Daniel Webster (7-15) in non-conference action Thursday. Senior Chris Vallee (Fitchburg, Mass.) nearly registered a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists for the Bison. Sophomore Bryan Riley (West Boylston, Mass.) led Nichols with 20 points while sophomore Chris Paquin (Barre, Mass.) added 18.

Hot shooting allowed the Bison to stampede out to a 19 point lead, 31-12, with 8:06 left in the first half. Nichols drained nine threes, including four in the final five minutes to head into the locker room with a comfortable 52-32 lead. Paquin led all scorers with 15 points off 5-10 shooting, including 3-6 from behind the arc. Riley added ten. Bishop also chipped in with seven points. Freshman Steve Savage (Salem, N.H.) and freshman Loick Muyuka (Manchester, N.H.) each had six points for the Eagles.

Nichols went on to shoot 60 percent in the second half, as it was up by as many as 34 points. Riley scored ten of his 20 in the second frame while junior John Costello (Tolland, Conn.) poured in all ten of his points in the second as well. Freshman Garret Bishop (Saratoga Spring, N.Y.) added 14 points on the night.

Savage finished with 20 points for Daniel Webster while Ahmad Hemingway (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in with 16.

The Bison will return to The Commonwealth Coast Conference action this Saturday. Feb. 16, when they host Eastern Nazarene at 1 p.m. Daniel Webster will face GNAC foe Lasell on the road next Tuesday, Feb. 19.
