Eagles Bounce Back, Bounce Past AmCats, 80-75

Nashua - Brian Inge (Fort Washington, Md.) knocked down a team high 23 points including four three pointers and Daniel Webster shot 56% in the second half on the way to an entertaining come from behind 80-75 victory over Anna Maria in men’s basketball action Tuesday night at Vagge Gymmasium.

Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) added 13 points and Tim Jackson (W. Henrietta, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points and six assists as the Eagles evened their season record at 2-2 overall.

Junior DeLaHoz (Lawrence, Mass.) led the AmCats (2-2) with 23 points including four treys and dished out eight assists and grabbed three steals, while Quincy Nunnally (Westboro, Mass.) added 19 points and six boards, and Tyler Washington (Milford, Mass.) added a double double with 10 points and a game best 11 rebounds.

DWC rebounded from a 44-36 deficit at the break withstanding 15 first half points from Nunnally and 10 from DeLaHoz, who also had seven assists to that point.

The Eagles trailed by three, 50-47 with 15:01 left after a Nunnally jumper. But Arjok Guguai (Manchester, N.H.) followed with two straight layups for a 51-50 lead with 13:59 left.

The lead would change hands six times over the next four minutes before DWC forged ahead thanks to solid free throw shooting from Joel Prince and AJ Hemingway to build a five point lead.

But the AmCats stormed back again. After a Hanson jumper made it 72-66 with 5:32 left, DeLaHoz answered with a jumper and a deep three and Nunnally put the visitors back ahead on a put back with 3:07 left.

Hanson buried two at the line and Steve Savage (Salem, N.H.) followed with a jumper for two of his seven points for a 76-73 game with 1:46 left.

Single free throws from James Daigneault (7 points) and Chris Pinsonault (8 points) cut the lead again to one with 56 ticks left, but Savage answered with a huge runner in the lane and DeLaHoz missed a three with 14 seconds left, sealing the victory.

DWC opens its Great Northeast Athletic Conference slate Saturday when they host Johnson & Wales at 1:00 p.m.

Anna Maria hosts Becker Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
