Monks Down Eagles In Shootout, 112-102
Standish, Maine– Saint Joseph’s bested GNAC rival Daniel Webster in a
shootout on Saturday, winning 112-102. Monks sophomore forward Ray Eatmon
(Huntington, NY) put up a double-double as he scored a season high 17 points
and grabbed 21 rebounds.
Junior guard Tim Jackson led five players in double figures for the Eagles
(3-3, 1-1 GNAC) with 24 points. Steve Savage added 18, A.J. Hemingway notched
12, Brian Inge had 11 and Arjok Guguai added 10.
Six different Monks reached double digit point totals for St. Joe’s (2-4, 1-1
GNAC).
Three starters contributed 10 points or more as Eatmon led SJC with 17 points,
Scot Vachon (Schenectady, NY) scored 13 points and dished out 7 assists and
Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, NY) scored 12 points. The bench also played a
significant role as Dwight Franklin (Stratford, CT) went 8-9 from the floor
and scored 16 points, Alberto Rue (Jamaica Plain, MA) sank 5-8 shots and
scored 13 and Chris Davis (New York, NY) added 12 points on a 6-9 shooting
effort.
St. Joe’s shot an impressive 57.7% (45-78) from the floor and held the
advantage in rebounds by a 53-42 margin in the game.
The Eagles now turn their attention to Dartmouth College on Saturday, 12/15.
The game will mark the first ever Divsion I regular season opponent for an
