David Faucher was named Head Coach of the Eagles men's basketball program August 25, 2008. The announcement was made by Phil Rowe, assistant vice president of Student Affairs. The hiring of Faucher underscores Daniel Webster’s commitment to advancing its athletic program while continuing to provide an academic-rich environment, particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math.

“I am extremely pleased that Dave has agreed to join the Daniel Webster College community as our next head men’s basketball coach,” said Rowe. “Dave brings an incredible wealth of experience. He is an extraordinary coach, an exceptional recruiter, and a true program builder.”

Faucher inherits an Eagles program that posted a 7-19 overall mark last season, including a 5-13 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) mark and a berth in the GNAC championship tournament. Along the way, the Eagles saw five different student-athletes earn GNAC “Rookie of the Week” honors, while newcomer shooting guard Chris Hanson of Salem, Mass. earned the first conference “Rookie of the Year” award in Eagles program history.

“I am extremely impressed with the renewed commitment Daniel Webster College has made to its athletic program,” said Faucher. “And I am very excited to assist in the College’s effort to create a successful men’s basketball program, and a first-class athletic program. We want our program to make an impact not only on the court, but in the community, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Faucher is well known in not only New Hampshire college basketball circles, but throughout the New England region and at the national level. Faucher spent 20 years with the Dartmouth College men’s basketball program, serving 13 years as head coach (1991-2004), preceded by seven years as assistant coach.

During his tenure as head coach, the Big Green compiled an overall record of 136-208 including a high-water mark of 18-8 in 1996-97. Dartmouth posted a 74-108 mark in Ivy League play, including a 10-4 record in both the 1996-97 and 1998-99 seasons.

Faucher has spent the past three years at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, N.H., where he has served as the boys’ varsity basketball coach as well as assistant director of development. Under his guidance, the Wildcats posted a three-year record of 42-32 including an 18-8 record in 2006-07, in which the squad qualified for the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class B Championship tournament.

Faucher is a 1972 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where he earned a degree in Health Studies/Physical Education. He got his coaching start as an assistant at UNH and later served as head coach for five years at Newmarket (N.H.) High School, four years at Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston, N.H. and one year as assistant coach at Merrimack College.

Faucher also directed the Dave Faucher Basketball Camp based in Hanover, N.H. for 19 years. Faucher is also the author of “Baffled Parents Guide to Coaching Youth Basketball,” a perennial best-seller in the youth coaching category.

Evan McDermott

Assistant Coach

Evan McDermott was named Head Coach of the Daniel Webster College men’s golf program and assistant coach of the men’s basketball program July 1, 2008. The announcement was made by Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs for Athletics Phil Rowe.

“We are very pleased to welcome Evan aboard in these roles,” said Rowe. “He has demonstrated outstanding skills and a wealth of knowledge in both sports. Both programs will greatly benefit from his contributions.”

McDermott, who served as Assistant to the Director of Athletics this past season at DWC, is a native of Newport, R.I. and a 2004 graduate of Endicott College, where he was a four-year letter winner with the men’s basketball program.

“I am extremely excited to oversee the golf program and assist with our men’s basketball program,” noted McDermott. “The entire athletic program continues to take great strides forward and I look forward to helping build both teams into annual challengers for their respective conference championships.”

McDermott’s basketball appointment marks a reunion with Head Coach Jeremy Currier, as the two served as Endicott teammates throughout their four year careers. Together, the duo helped guide the Gulls to a four year overall record of 75-35 (.681) including a 42-12 (.778) mark in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play. Their four-year run culminated in a CCC tournament championship and NCAA tournament appearance in 2004.

Prior to coming to DWC, McDermott served one season as Assistant Coach with the Salve Regina University men’s basketball program. He also served the two previous years as Facility Director of Hoop Specialists, a state-of-the-art basketball facility in North Andover, Mass. where he also offered instructional lessons and served as AAU Coach among numerous middle school and high school teams.

McDermott also served one season as basketball operations intern with the Boston Celtics.

On the links, McDermott is a former Director of Outside Services and Caddie Master for the Newport Country Club and oversaw golf operations during the 2006 United States Golf Association Women’s Open Championship.

A native of Newport, R.I., McDermott was a four year varsity letter winner in both golf and basketball at Rogers High School where he captained both squads and was a basketball all division and all academic selection.

Chris Dorsey
Assistant Coach
(Lyndon State, 2007 / 1st Season)

The Daniel Webster College men’s basketball program named Chris Dorsey assistant coach August 7, 2008. Dorsey’s appointment was announced by Eagles Head Coach Jeremy Currier.

Dorsey, a former associate head coach and standout at Lyndon State College, is a 2007 Lyndon State graduate with a degree in exercise science with a concentration in strength and conditioning.

“We are extremely excited that Chris has joined our program,” said Currier. “He brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and a proven track record of success. We expect him to be integral part of our program as we move forward and an outstanding role model and instructor for our student-athletes.”

Dorsey was a two-year letter winner and captain with the Hornets, earning First Team Sunrise Conference accolades as well as team most valuable player and Lyndon State male athlete of the year honors in 2006. As a senior that season, Dorsey set a Hornets single season assist record (236), finished second in the nation in assists per game (8.4), and was first nationally in assist/turnover ratio, guiding the squad to a 22-6 overall mark.

Dorsey spent the previous two seasons at Alpena (Michigan) Community College where he was a two-time team captain, MVP, and Eastern Division Michigan Community College Athletic Association all conference selection.

In his one season as associate head coach in 2007, the Hornets posted an 11-12 overall mark, producing two USCAA all-American selections. He also served as the Associate Varsity and Head Junior Varsity Coach at Lyndon Institute High School.

Dorsey also served three years as Summer Camp Coach at Lyndon State and spent two seasons as a student assistant men’s basketball coach at Alpena.

In the classroom, Dorsey served one year as adjunct instructor in both “Coaching Methods for Basketball” as well as “Basketball Skills Training: Strength and Conditioning.”

A native of Westerville, Ohio, Dorsey resides in Nashua and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in sports leadership at Northeastern University.

Vin Sparacio
Student Assistant Coach
(1st Season)

Vin Sparacio, who will oversee scouting and player development, comes to Daniel Webster having served most recently as assistant basketball coach at Susan E. Wagner High School in Staten Island, N.Y., and was previously an assistant coach at Laurinburg Institute, a preparatory school in Laurinburg, N.C.

A native of Staten Island, Sparacio has also coached in the AAU circuit including the Staten Island Stingrays and New Hampshire Fastbreak and has assisted with a number of camps including Five Star, the Harvard Elite and the Gate City Basketball School.
