Eagle Men’s Basketball Standout Ryan Middlemiss Selected to NABC 'Honor Court'

Nashua - Junior point guard Ryan Middlemiss (Methuen, Mass.) has been selected to the prestigious National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honor Court, recognizing the top collegiate basketball academic achievers across all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA.

“We are deeply proud of Ryan’s accomplishment,” noted Eagle Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jeremy Currier. “The NABC Honor Court is an extremely prestigious honor and as the first Eagle men’s basketball student-athlete to earn the award, Ryan is the first in what we hope to be many academic achievement honorees that will represent our program in the future.”

“I speak for the entire College athletic community in congratulating Ryan on this achievement,” added Assistant Vice President of Student Life for Athletics Phil Rowe. “Ryan’s accomplishment reminds us why the word ‘student’ comes before ‘student-athlete.’ Our athletics program is focused not only in improving our success on the courts and fields, but first and foremost in the classroom. Ryan’s accomplishment is an outstanding example of that goal.”

The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court, and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, an athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must be an upperclassman, hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2006-07 academic year, and have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.

Middlemiss, a sport management major, appeared in 20 games this past season for the Eagles, starting 18. He led the squad and finished second in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in assist average with 4.0 per game, placed ninth in the GNAC with 1.8 steals, added 5.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, shot 46% from the field and logged just under 29 minutes per game.
