Johnson State Topples Eagles, 10-6

Nashua – Billy Noyes (Barre, Vt.) erupted for a game high five goals and Erik Tillberg (Randolph, Vt.) added two goals and an assist guiding Johnson State past host Daniel Webster, 10-6 in a North Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse matchup Thursday.

The win kept the Badgers perfect in 2008 as they improved to 3-0 overall and tied for first place with Mount Ida at 3-0 in NAC play, while the Eagles dropped to 1-3 overall (0-3 NAC).

Ryan Manning (Newport, N.H.) and Brian Abrahamson (Dedham, Mass.) led the Eagles with two goals each.

The teams traded goals and leads throughout the first two quarters and were tied at one after one and 5-5 at the half.

Noyes put the Badgers up with his third of the contest, an unassisted tally 3:45 into the third, and the Eagles forced the sixth tie of the game with Abrahamson’s second of the day, an unassisted score with 8:49 to go in the period.

But Noyes followed with a man advantage score set up by Tillberg with 4:37 to go in the third to take the lead for good.

Tillberg tacked on two strikes with 11:40 and 9:30 to play in the fourth and Noyes closed out the scoring with his fifth with 6:31 remaining.

Evan Pestone (Coahasset, Mass.) made 12 saves for the Badgers, while Chris Leyland (New Hope, Penn.) made 11 saves in goal for Daniel Webster.

The Eagles travel to Becker Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. NAC meeting, while the Badgers face Thomas at Green Mountain College Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
