Norwich Pushes Past Eagles, 10-6
Nashua, NH – Scott Pearce registered four goals and Tyler Woods added two
goals and an assist leading Norwich past host Daniel Webster, 10-6 in men’s
lacrosse action Monday at Eagle Field.
The Cadets (2-5) came back from a 3-0 second quarter deficit, took a
three-goal lead in the third quarter and pulled away with three more scores
over the final 4:45 of the contest to pick up their second victory of the
season.
Ryan Manning (Newport, N.H.) paced the Eagle attack with four goals, while
Brian Abrahamson (Dedham, Mass.) and Colby Field (Hollis, N.H.) added solo
scores.
Chris Leyland (New Hope, Pa.) made 10 stops in goal for the Eagles, while
Nick Bakos (Hamden, Ct.) stopped seven Eagle shots.
Manning helped DWC (3-5) build a 3-0 lead with a first quarter score 5:42
into the game and made it 2-0 2:40 into the second. Field added another 1:38
later.
But Norwich answered with quick strikes from John Lighthall (Scotia, N.Y.)
and C.J. Hamilton (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) 1:57 apart and Pearce tied it with
his first with 2:05 to go in the half.
Abrahamson put the Eagles back up 4-3 with 50 seconds to go with an
unassisted tally, but Woods answered right back 34 seconds later and the
teams were tied at four at the break.
Pearce, Woods and Kyle Marzeoti (Billerica, Mass.) helped build the lead to
7-4 Cadets after three, before the Eagles staged a quick rally.
Manning notched two quick scores with 13:45 and 10:40 to play, but DWC could
not find the equalizer.
Norwich finally pulled away for good as Pearce notched a power play score
with 4:45 left and Woods followed with his second of the day 1:10 later.
Pearce closed out the scoring with 2:39 left.
The Eagles are off until Wednesday when they host Maine Maritime in a North
Atlantic Conference contest beginning at 3:00 p.m.
