(Manchester, N.H.) – New England College men’s lacrosse got their first victory of the season in a 16-2 win over opponent Daniel Webster Thursday evening at Southern New Hampshire University. NEC’s Dillon Lantz (Woodstock, VT) netted four goals in the second period alone for the Pilgrims (1-2).

The Pilgrims wasted no time in the first quarter, jumping out to a 3-0 lead as freshman midfielder Anthony Savino (Medford, NY) scored his first of three goals at 11:33. Daniel Webster answered right back with a score at 6:38 by junior attack Brandon Bell (Loudon, NH) to make it 3-1.

NEC would hold the Eagles scoreless throughout the entire second period, as they scored nine goals of their own. NEC’s Dave Gardiner started the scoring off at 13:31 in the second, followed less than a minute later by Savino’s second score to go up 5-1. Junior Dan Foster (Wiscasset, ME) and junior Kyle Burke (Winnetka, IL) each netted a goal for the Pilgrims before Lantz went on his four-goal streak. Pilgrim Matt Quinton (Elora, Ontario) also scored in the second quarter to put NEC up 13-1 heading into half time.

In the third, junior Carlos Gutierrez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) scored unassisted at 11:23 and Savino netted his third goal of the night at 10:41.
