Eagles Tame Terriers, Clinch Playoff Berth
- Squad Guarantees At Least Third Place, Best Finish Yet -

(Nashua) –  Brandon Bell (Loudon, N.H.) notched a game high four goals and assisted on one, and Brian Abrahamson (Dedham, Mass.) added a goal and three assists to lead host Daniel Webster past Thomas, 7-2 in a North Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse match up Saturday.

The win clinched a playoff berth and guaranteed that the Eagles (5-3, 4-1 NAC) can finish no lower than third place in this season’s NAC standings with two league games remaining. The Eagles had never placed higher than fourth prior to this season.

Adam McKellar (Biddeford, Maine) posted a shutout through three quarters, allowing two goals and finishing with nine saves.

Ryan Manning (Newport, N.H.) and Andrew Smith (Lancaster, N.Y.) added solo scores for the Eagles.

Mike Ross (York, Maine) led the Terriers (2-3, 1-3 NAC) with a goal and assist. Kolby Pekham added the other Thomas score.

The Eagles, who finished with a 26-11 shots on goal advantage, jumped ahead on Bell’s first of the day off an Abrahamson feed with 4:08 to go in the opening quarter. The two followed to put up two scores in the span of 59 seconds midway through the second with Bell converting at the 5:24 mark, and Abrahamson following at 6:23 and the Eagles led 3-0 at the half.

Manning put the hosts ahead 4-0 midway through the third and Bell added unassisted tallies with 4:10 and 3:40 left in the stanza.

Ross notched a power play score 20 seconds into the fourth to put the Terriers on the board, and Ross added another man up goal with 5:48 left. Abrahamson closed out the game with a man up goal with 3:31 to play.

DWC dominated on the ground throughout, finishing with a 58-21 advantage on ground balls.

The Eagles return to action Monday (weather permitting) as they host Norwich at 3:00 p.m. and host Mount Ida Thursday in a NAC contest at 3:00 p.m. Thomas hosts Southern Maine Monday at 4:00 p.m. (weather permitting).
