Playoff-Bound Eagles Breeze By GMC, 9-1
(Nashua) – Brian Abrahamson (Dedham, Mass.) notched a game high four
goals and three assists, and Brandon Bell (Loudon, N.H.) added two goals and
two assists to pace host Daniel Webster past Green Mountain, 9-1 in the
Eagles’ regular season finale Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles (7-4), who finished third in the North Atlantic Conference
standings, will play in next week’s NAC semifinal round at Castleton
beginning at 2:00 p.m. It will be their second straight post-season
appearance. The Eagles also tied their program record for wins in season,
matching last year's high-water mark.
Zach Horchar (Baltimore, Md.) added two goals to the Eagle attack, while
Ryan Manning (Newport, N.H.) chipped in with a goal and assists. Defender
Craig Van Tuyl (Buffalo, N.Y.) finished with a game and season-high 11
ground balls.
Abrahamson notched the first two scores of the day at the 12:53 and 3:38 marks,
while Horchar’s first made it 3-0 with 2:45 to go in the opening quarter.
Manning made it 4-0 26 seconds into the second and Green Mountain’s David
Browning (New London, N.H.) put the Eagles on the board three minutes later.
Horchar’s second of the game with 5:53 to go in the half, made it 5-1 at the
break.
Bell notched his two scores in the third, while Abrahamson tacked on single
tallies in the third and fourth quarters.
Adam McKellar (Biddeford, Maine) finished with nine saves, having allowed
just one goal over his last eight quarters after a shutout of Becker
Saturday.
Hale Tomasson (Greenwich, Conn.) made four saves in the loss as Green
Mountain (1-8) dropped its fourth straight. The Eagles host Castleton
Tuesday and travel to Morrisville State next Sunday.
