(With information from the North Atlantic Conference)
(Chestnut Hill, Mass.) – The Daniel Webster College men’s lacrosse team has
been picked to finish fourth in the eight-team North Atlantic Conference (NAC)
in a preseason poll as voted by the conference coaches.
The
Eagles return nine letter winners from last year’s 7-5 squad that posted a
4-3 mark in NAC play, earning a berth in the championship tournament,
falling to eventual champion Mount Ida in the semifinals. The Eagles also
return three all conference players including first teamer and junior
Brandon Bell (Loudon, N.H.) along with second team selections sophomore
Brian Abrahamson (Dedham, Mass.) and junior Mike Stevens (Cortland, N.Y.).
The Eagles have also recently named captains for the upcoming season. They
include Stevens, senior Bill Daley (Westwood, Mass.) and junior Craig Van
Tuyl (Buffalo, N.Y.).
Three-time defending tournament champion Mount Ida was chosen as the
preseason favorite receiving six first place votes and 61 total points.
Castleton State was picked second with one first place vote, while Maine
Maritime, which edged the Eagles by a single point for third, earned the
final first place vote.
The Eagles, led by 2006 NAC Coach of the Year and third year Head Coach
Tim Lunn,
open their 2007 campaign this coming Thursday, March 8th as they travel to
Manchester, N.H. to face host New England College at 3:00 p.m. The game will
be played at Penmen Field (directions)
on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.
